About MOSAAIC at Philadelphia
Who We Are
Dr. Carolyn Y. Fang of Fox Chase Cancer Center and Dr. Grace X. Ma of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University have dedicated their life's work to understanding and overcoming barriers to care for Asian Americans and other underserved minority populations.
Dr. Fang, Associate Director for Population Science and a Professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program, leads a research lab that investigates psychosocial and behavioral factors in cancer prevention, risk management and survivorship. Dr. Ma, a population health scientist, is the Founding Director of the Center for Asian Health (CAH) at Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine. Established in 2000 with NCI/NIH funding, CAH is a pioneer in reducing cancer health disparities.
Through more than 20 years of collaboration, Dr. Fang and Dr. Ma have made seminal contributions in improving health equity and reducing disparities in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment adherence, and access to quality healthcare for Asian American populations. As pioneers in health disparity research, these two leaders are uncovering new insights to reduce the burden of cancer for underserved communities in the Philadelphia region and across the country.
Communities We Focus On
Our site is focusing on Chinese, Vietnamese, and Filipino Americans who reside in the greater Philadelphia region. But we welcome individuals from other Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities to also join the study.
